Europa holder

Aftenens vine i rækkefølge

Juuls vinhandel 165 kr / 92P

Beaune 1 Cru 2005 Louis Jadot
Bouquet af røde bær, jordbær/hindbær, noget sveske.  Vinen har en flot kølig pint stil. Uhrskov vinhandel 189kr / 90P

Rusden Christines Grenache 2008

Sito Moresco 2004

A Tasmanian Pinot

Stumbled on a Tasmanian Pinot in "Waitrose". I never tasted pinot from there and had to give it a try. Although found on a supermarket shelf it is admittedly quite well done.

Ninth Island Pinot noir 2008

Color vague transperant red (like Spätburgunder). Bouquet of red cherries, perfume, wet soil along with vague hints of wild ferment. Taste is mineral, with notes of iron and blood. The finish is dominated by an acidity somewhat stonefruity which lasts. All in all, a fine cool climate pinot. 13€ locally bought, 89P /anders

Blind tasting at Eggerts

Friday night hosted another reunion on the concept "bring your own bottle". Following bottles were tasted and evaluated; Pazo Señorans 2008, Moss Wood Pinot Noir 2004, Chateau Marquis D’alesme 1982 and Cornas Tardieu Laurent 2006. As prologue and epilogue a keller Riesling and a bottle of Chateau de Malle 2002 Sauternes was enjoyed.

Pazo Señorans 2008
Galician wine on the noble green wine grape, Albariño. Clear colored with olive glaze on the egdes. Clean bouquet of exotic fruits and flowers. The wine is not all light, but has some density. The asfter taste is dry and lasting. Kjær & Sommerfeldt, 179dkk, 90+P
Moss Wood Pinot Noir 2004
Red transperant color. Huge bouquet of raspberries, pibe tobacco, cut grass, earthy tones, marcipan and vanilla. Acid level is very balanced and the wine appears quite light(the huge bouquet considered). Privately aquired (260dk-400dkk), 90P
Chateau Marquis D’alesme 1982
A wine guessed in 2 seconds, old bordeaux from Medoc from the famous vintage 1982. Orange egdes and uncleared wine. Almost like blood in glass. Huge bouquet of heavy leather, salt, gorgonzola, earthy. A heavy tannin bite dominate the finish with taste of stone fruits/pencil. A quite masculin wine. Vinoble, 238dkk, 90+P
Cornas Tardieu Laurent 2006
Deep red color, with purple egdes. The bouquet is focused and very dominated by white grinded pepper and strawberries. Finish with hints of vanilla. Not the most assesible wine, but very interesting. The wine express the schist-terroir with a clean minerality. Theis-vine, 299dkk, 91P
Finally the evening was Chateau de Malle 2002. Delightful wine with notes of toasted bread with butter and raisins.

To keep or to open...

..That's the question so often wondered in front of the cellar rack. 'Curiosity killed the cat', and although the bottle was young, we uncorked a recent top wine from D'arenberg to explore what to expect when drinking some of Austrialias finest wine.
Dead arm is exclusively made on shiraz, and more insterstingly the name refers to a condition which may affect old vines, leaving one branch of the vine dead, and the other a live with low yields but quite intense aromatics.

Dead Arm D'arenberg 2006
Tasted friday 15 may by PBK, JH & ADJ

Appearance: Classic deep red (not pitch black as perhaps expected).
Bouquet: Quite closed the first, hereafter dark berries, leather, cigarwood, tobacco, hay and mint. At first taste, the high level of acid expose the full piano (whole mouth). The wine holds back the 'jam-ness' (if any), and even though its a full bodied wine, it presents itself in with refinement. The strong tanins may decrease upon storage and the wine is definitively to keep for 5+ years. As we acknowledge that the wine is better stored rather than opened now - we did not rate it...

14.5/20

An evening with wines from the New World

The other night we had tree reds up for a test. Given a menu of  slow cooked ossobuco, there was free play of wines from pinot to heavy cab’s. The first wine was indeed a pleasant surprise from New Zealand, the second bottle originated from Portugal (old world), and finally a classic from down under (Australia). Two out of three New world wines – a delighting and welcome initiative.

Momo 2007, Pinot Noir, Malborough New Zealand

Bouquet: Red fruits, vanilla, hint of cinnamon and base of ’dirt’. The base evolved in the glass from dirt to animal notes (typical Pinot)

Taste notes: the wine is well balanced but with a fresh acid. The wine has an elegant lightness and taste of mineral. The wine presents itself with a very fine structure.

Reguengos (Garrafeira dos socios) 2001

In the deepth of hot Alentejo reside the village of Reguengos. The producer of same name provide a series of typical Portuguese table wines to a top wine under the label Garrafeira dos socios (=The wine cellar of the a associated members), perhaps a nomen reminiscent of a system where wine farmers (contributors) of local grapes received good wines from the common cooperative.

Bouquet: A rounded bouquet of boysenberries and cinnamon. The bouquet rests dense in the glass, heavy and creamy.

Taste Notes: Dense wine with notes chocolate and ripe pears. Both provide a rounded base of the wine.

The Twentyeight Road, d’Arenberg 2001

D’arenberg has long been one of Australia’s best and most interesting producers. For more than a century the wineyeard has produced wine using different European grape varietals on Austrialian soil. Of their many products, with rather bizarre names, the 28th road is found among their top wines. This wine is produced from a single field using very old and low yielding Mouvedre grapes.

Bouquet: the bouquet presented it self with a high vertical structure – as if coming out the glass. Found herein were the following: Dark berries, but with a green base, liquorice, chocolate. Most characteristic is the surprising essence of peat (tørv), which led one to associate the wine with whiskey.

Uncorked 29 februar

Yesterday night we had a little 'clean up' from the shelves. Here are some notes
Chateau Pierrail 2006
Distributor: hjhansen Vin, Mad&Vin (magasin)
Area: Bordeaux
Grapes: Sauvignon blanc (70%) & sauvignon gris (30%)
Taste notes: citrus, lime, ‘forest onion’, herbs. The wine is indeed very balanced (sweet/acidic) with a slight fat finish.
Storage: to drink right away.
Body: *** (range: 1-5)
Price: 80 kr (panel voted <100kr)>http://www.hjhansenvin.dk/product.aspx?sid=90165

Barbaresco Produttori del Barbaresco 2003
distributor: Phillipson wine
Area: Piemonte
Grapes: Nebbiolo (100%)
Taste notes: Metal, chalk, extreme rich in tannin with a long finish. The panels opinion is that this is a full blooded piedmont with a stringent 'clean', long taste. The high level of tannin leaves the mouth dry and should perhaps better be stored to develop.
Body *** (Range: 1-5)
Storage: Optimal to let this wine sleep for some years
Price: 80 kr (by the case of 12)
Ceravolo 2004
Distributor: Holte Vinlager
Area: Adelaine plains (Australia)
Grapes: Shiraz (100%)
Taste notes: Black berries, leather, unusually creamy. This wine is a 'type specimen' of a new world wine. It is horseblood dark, butter sweet, round, filly and well balanced.
Body: ***** (range 1-5)
Storage: To drink right away
Price: 85 kr (panel voted ~100 kr) at http://www.holtevinlager.dk/
